As the only public charity of its kind that conducts research about and for the U.S. animal food industry, the Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEEDER) pursues proactive research to advance understanding and trust in a sustainable animal feed and pet food supply chain. Since 2009, IFEEDER has been developing resources that help the U.S. animal food industry better communicate its story to corporate decision-makers and stakeholders looking for credible science and facts on where their feed and pet food comes from.
IFEEDER pursues projects developed through grants and collaborations, as well as through request for proposals (RFPs), when specific needs arise. See open RFPs below:
Strategic Assessment on Impact of Vitamin and Amino Acid Supply Chain Disruptions on U.S. Livestock and Poultry Production and Food Security
Option 1: IFEEDER invites proposals to conduct a strategic assessment of the potential impacts of fluctuations in vitamin and amino acid availability on U.S. pets and livestock production (i.e., broiler, layer, turkey, swine, dairy and beef). The goal is to identify critical supply thresholds and inclusion rates at which livestock production would be significantly adversely affected, including, as appropriate, the impact of substituting ingredients. The timeline for completion is six months, and the budget limit is $250,000.
Option 2: In addition, proposers have the option to conduct a parallel assessment focusing on the impacts of availability and inclusions rates on pet food production and pet health. This option will explore comparable effects on product formulation, nutritional quality and pet health (i.e., dogs and cats only). The timeline for completion is six months, and the budget limit is $75,000.
