Filling knowledge gaps for the animal feed and pet food industry.

Feed Ingredient Consumption Report

The Institute for Feed Education and Research (FEEDER) is launching a research project to update the 2020 feed ingredient consumption report, which assessed the use of 47 ingredients across 10 animal species, including aquaculture. First launched in 2017 and updated in 2020, the 2024 report will provide the most precise, comprehensive analysis of feed ingredient use for aquaculture, beef cattle, broilers, dairy cattle, hogs, horses, layers, sheep and meat goats.

As animal and crop production shifts alongside ethanol and biofuel production trends, it is important to update the feed ingredient consumption dataset. The dataset is used by feed industry members, upstream and downstream value chain stakeholders and researchers to understand the scope and status of feed ingredient components and use.

Project Highlights:

  • Comprehensive Data Collection: Data is gathered on feed consumption from various regions and analyzed using expert animal nutritionists, considering diverse agricultural practices and local feed availability, to develop data on various animal diets.

  • Life Stage Analysis: Detailed reports will break down consumption patterns by different life stages, from juvenile to mature animals.

  • Resources Your Company Can Use: The final report will include an interactive map, complete with state and congressional district fact sheets, and downloadable social media graphics.

IFEEDER anticipates the updated report will be available in January 2025.

When you contribute to IFEEDER, you join industry champions and external partners shaping the future of U.S. animal food.
