Sustainability is about more than just greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and animal feed and pet food industry members are doing more than they get credit for. The Institute for Feed Education and Research is seeking members from all sectors of the animal food industry whose efforts support one or more of the people, planet or governance topics below.
This fall, we’re working with students in Kurt Rosentrater’s, Ph.D., fall semester 400-level agricultural and biosystems engineering sustainability course at Iowa State University to develop a new resource for the Animal Food Industry Sustainability Toolkit. The materials will provide insights into the people, planet and governance concepts below, along with why each is important for consideration at the corporate level. By using real actions from industry members, we'll share examples and provide a template to guide others in stakeholder communications.
With support and introductions from IFEEDER, student teams from the course will engage industry members to create real-world narratives.
If your organization is willing to work with the undergraduate students to share a story about the good work you have underway, please let Lara Moody know.

Last month at the American Feed Industry Association’s annual Liquid Feed Symposium, attendees set a new auction record to support the Kenny Berg Research and Education Fund. With auction item donations from industry members and generous bidding, proceeds generated $32,260.
The AFIA Liquid Feed Committee and IFEEDER work together to foster the positive image of the liquid feed industry as a vehicle for nutrient supplementation. To date, the fund has provided 21 grants to universities to support expanding and improving the use of liquid feed supplements to the livestock sector.
