Partnering to Prepare the Next Generation of Industry Leaders

The Equipment Manufacturers Committee (EMC) Scholarship Fund began as an idea in the early 1950s at a Grain Equipment Machinery Manufacturers Association meeting. Recognizing the importance of giving back, the association started a scholarship fund and awarded one small, annual scholarship to a Kansas State University undergraduate student pursuing a career in the animal feed industry. This idea provided the spark for this program, igniting continued ideas for growing the fund over the years.

Fostering the Next Generation of Feed Industry Professionals

Last fall, Iowa State University unveiled the new ISU Kent Feed Mill and Grain Science Complex, which is dedicated to feed and grain research and education. After this facility's inauguration, ISU launched a traineeship program, providing students with invaluable, well-rounded industry experience. I recently had the opportunity to visit my alma mater to speak with Dirk Maier, Ph.D., the complex’s director, to learn more about this innovative approach to hands-on learning for the future of the feed industry.

Communicating Feed's Impact Via the Protein PACT

The Protein PACT for the People, Animals & Climate of Tomorrow unites partners including the Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEEDER) across the animal agriculture supply chain in the largest-ever effort to strengthen animal protein’s contributions to the people, animals and climate of tomorrow. Following the Protein PACT’s launch in July 2021, the North American Meat Institute (Meat Institute) and our partners have been hard at work to set measurable baselines, verify progress toward ambitious achievements and communicate transparently about how nutrient-dense animal-sourced foods contribute to sustainable food security solutions.

Uniting Feed and Animal Protein Production Through the Protein PACT

Consumers today want to see that our food choices have a positive impact on our health, communities and the environment around us. We at the North American Meat Institute (NAMI) believe that eating meat is not only compatible with that goal, it is integral to achieving it - we cannot achieve the sustainable, healthy future people need without meat.
