We must simultaneously address food security while reducing agriculture’s environmental impact.
To make measurable, on-farm progress that advances sustainable feed technologies and practical strategies, the Institute for Feed Education and Research invests in public research institutions, such as the Clarity and Leadership for Environmental Awareness and Research (CLEAR) Center at the University of California-Davis.
Under the leadership of Frank Mitloehner, Ph.D., professor and air quality specialist, the CLEAR Center partnership has sparked a public-private dialogue between the animal food industry and those responsible for keeping us sustainably fed in the future.
The CLEAR Center collaborates with those in the food chain who are striving to reduce their environmental footprint. IFEEDER provides a philanthropic gift to U.C. Davis to support the broad work of the center, including its field work on ranches and dairies to find real solutions that reverberate throughout the industry. To achieve a food system that encourages human and planet health – policymakers, researchers, the agricultural sector and non-governmental organizations must work together.
